Betsey...an Oldie but Goodie

Greetings!

I am sharing with you a card that is the direct result of me playing around with my Copics I hardly use.

I was inspired to make this card after sitting around one day thinking of my dad who passed away almost 13 years ago.  Me and my dad have similar personalities so we often bumped heads, but I totally respected and of course loved him.  Well, my dad had an old truck he affectionately called Betsey (why I don't know).  Betsey was the most hideous pile of metal on four wheels; however, she would get you from point A to point B just nowhere in between. *gigl*  Well, my dad would drop me off at work in her and I would be so embarrassed.  It was just that kind of truck.  He loved it!  So today's card is dedicated to my dad and his truck Betsey that he is probably driving around in Heaven in with a huge grin on his face. :-)

Here's my card...

The process...

This was a fun, but challenging card for me.  I had never tried to create a "rusty" vehicle before and came about this by accident.  I love to play with my Copic colors that I hardly use and stumbled on this combination of YR23, E07, E09 and the blender.  I laid down the YR23 first and then went over the area with E07.  I then took the blender and rubbed areas where I wanted the YR23 to come through.  I used the blender carefully because I didn't want it to totally remove all color.  I just wanted to create the contrast between the E07 and YR23.  Once I liked how it looked, I darkened in the E07 with E09 to try to convey an aging process.  When I finished it, I liked how it turned out (especially since it was my first time trying it) and from there Betsey (an Oldie but Goodie) was born again.  I also used W3, W5 and W7 for the trim and wheels.  I used E50, E51 and E53 for the back.  I added clear glaze to the windows and white glaze to the headlights and mirror.  I finsihed it off with a Copic Spica Grey pen for the tires.

Recipe:
Image:  I can't remember.  (I hate when this happens.)
Sentiment:  ME
Ink:  Copics
DP:  MME  and SU Cardstock
Diecuts:  Spellbinders Circles
Punches:  MS and SU
Embossing folder:  Tim Holtz's Gears folder

I hope you will give this a try.  I know that I am going to try it out again on maybe some different items.  I still have a ways to go to make it really look like rust, but practice makes perfect, right?!

Thanks for looking and commenting!
