Paper Smooches ~ Hearts

Greetings!

Happy Super Bowl Sunday!  Today is our annual "Anti-Super Bowl" party.  Me and my sisters get together and party and have a good time.  I have a lot of running around to do to prepare for this evening.

As I had previously mentioned in some other post, I have really been busy making cards.  I've been so inspired by Etsy, blog hops, other talented artist and myself.  lol  I created a Leap List at the beginning of this year.  My Leap List is similar to a "bucket list;" however, I don't like the idea of "kicking the bucket" (although I know some day it will happen) so I decided to use a Leap List.  I got the idea from a car commercial. *gigl*  Anyway, on my Leap List I wanted to 1) create cards that challenged me and 2) enter more challenges and participate in more hops.  Well, the CAS card has always proven to be a challenge to me.  I have never been able to KISS  (keep it simple silly). :-)  However, I have seen several blogs where artist have made CAS cards and really got bit by the bug.

Well, I have created two cards for the Paper Smooches challenge and March Guest DT call.  I really love these images, because they are fun and very versatile.  I used the freebie hearts that were this months freebies.

Here's my first card for the challenge using this picture as my inspiration.

This card was so much fun to make and I tried really hard to keep it simple.  I love the very simple sentiment that says so much.  The freebie was two hearts; however, I merged two more hearts together to create this image.  I had to do a little manipulating of the hearts by flipping them, digital paperpiecing them and merging them together.  I love the finished product.  I added some pastel striped paper in the background to make the hearts pop even more.  I think coloring the heart red really draws your eye to the sentiment.

I used these hearts again in my card for the March GDT role.  I used some different paper to digitally paperpiece this card and really wanted to go for a masculine feel for this card.

Again, I kept my heart red to make the heart pop and added some twine.  I had a lot of fun playing with these hearts and creating these cards.  You should check out Paper Smooches and see the adorable images that they have available.  I believe these cards showcase my digital paperpiecing skills, which is truly a technique I love to do.

  1. I LOVE these two cards! I too find CAS cards a challenge, so I started a weekly segment on my blog called "Simple Card Saturdays" to force myself to do more of them. I really love the way you digitally paper-pieced the image - I've never tried that, but you've inspired me to look into it. I also love your little pop of red and the patterned paper that you used. Great job!
