"A Day for Daisies" Challenge #5: Please Pass the Traditions

Greetings!

Oh it is Friday!!  Yippee!  Today begins a new challenge over at "a day for daisies."  If you haven't checked out the awesome images by the talented Tammy...you should.  I am going to share with you today a cute image she created for last week's new releasee.

However, before I share my card with you let me tell you a little about the challenge.   The theme is "Please Pass the Traditions."  Everyone has that tried and true recipe that never lets them down. Please pass the tradition! Create a card using your favorite recipe! Get creative with the design and remember...nobody makes it better than you! The challenge will run from  November 5th - November 18th and you can post your images here.  You have a chance to win one of Tammy's images, so you don't want to miss out.  For inspiration, please stop by my fellow DT blogs and leave some love.

Well, as you can see you have the freedom to interpret this anyway you like.  I, being the literal person that I am, decided to create a recipe card.  Actually this card evolved after I had a disagreement with a friend over a debate that has been around for years.  Dressing vs. Stuffing...which is better or are they the same?  With the Holidays around the corner, me and my friend were discussing our Holiday menus and I mentioned that I was sure we were having dressing.  She responded, "oh stuffing, we will have stuffing too."  I then said, "No, dressing."  She then said again, "yeah, stuffing."  I proceeded to explain to her that they are not the same.  She disagreed, thus leading me to explain that stuffing is used to "stuff inside of a turkey," while dressing is a side dish cooked separately (usually with turkey inside of it).  She still didn't seem to get it soooooo...I created this recipe card to help her out.

I will present this card to her prior to Thanksgiving.  I am sure that this debate will continue for years to come; however, at least I have done my part to educate one person on the difference.  Also, Tammy is kind enough to offer a wonderful image for you to use (if you choose) in the challenge and since it is Friday (New Release Day) you can get 20% off any of the new releases.  Wooo...okay you have all the deets...get to shopping. TFL!

P.S.  If you would like the Dressing recipe, please email me at cardsbycandy@yahoo.com.  It was kind of lengthy to post here. :-)

Recipe:
Sentiment:  Create with TLC
Ink:  Copics
DP:  K & C Company
Diecut/Punch:  Uchinda flower punch/Spellbinders oval die

Now get to creating...

Remember:  There are no mistakes in card making, only opportunities for creativity!

  1. Hi Candy,
Your card is lovely...very traditional and perfect for the Thanksgiving Season. I have to admit this challenge was very difficult for me and did me in!

I was lost and feel so bad that I could not come up with something!

    You girls did great! :)

    Hugs,
    Lis

I also have/love dressing (but I always have called it stuffing) and now I know the difference and will call it the correct thing from now on!!! LOL!

  4. Candy this is terrific! The pocket is a stroke of genius and I love how you've colored (and used) Tammy's pretty turkey image! I did not know there was difference between stuffing and dressing so YOU BETTER SEND THIS TO ME! ;) *giggle*

  5. Excellent job of this challenge. I didn't know the difference between dressing & stuffing, but now that you've told us, it just makes sense. I'll have to try the dressing for Christmas - my family are HUGE stuffing fans, so this will be a nice change. :)

  7. your recipe card is just wonderful! I love the way you have put it together!

now for my vote, dressing all the way. and yes, there is a BIG difference, especially for those of us from the south. ;) in my house, it had better be made with cornbread, or there is gonna be a war! giggles! my sons are even adamant about it now that they are older. too funny!
