MayzyArt Steampunk Lady: Take 2

Greetings!

I hope that you were able to join in on the MayzyArt Blog hop yesterday!  I would like to thank everyone who stopped by and left some love.  It is truly appreciated.

I am back today with another Steampunk lady.  Last Thursday, I had the pleasure of working the Heartfelt Creations booth at the MegaMeet Craft show here in Michigan.  I got to meet Emily Lou and other members of the HC crew.  I truly had a blast.  As payment for my work, I opted to work for product because I would end up spending cash there anyway. :-)  Well, I earned a few of their awesome dies as well as some beautiful stamps and papers.  I also left the booth with tons of inspiration.  If you have never visited their blog, oh my you are missing out.  One of the creations that inspired me was a beautiful tag that one of their DT members created.  I immediately knew that I wanted to make the tag and I wanted to use a Steampunk theme.

I used my Cameo to create a black mat for this card.  I used some dp from Quick Quotes Scrapbook Co. which worked really well with the whole Steampunk theme.  I cut out the gears, belt and image on my Cameo and used my Heartfelt Creations Decorative Blossom Corner and 2 Decorative Lattice Swirls from the Timeless Amour Die set.  I used a combination of black cardstock and metallic grey cardstock for the embellishments and matting.  I aslo used white cardstock to cut out the Decorative Blossom corner.  I colored my image using Copics and added glass glaze to her goggles.  I finished my tag off with some embellishments (clocks, keys and glass beads) and a pearl.

I had Paulette from Create with TLC to create an sentiment for me, but once this was completed I had no where to put it.  Therefore, I shall use the sentiment on another creation I am working on.

If you landed here from the super talented Jo's blog, then your ship is on the right course.  My name is Candy!  Ahoy Matey and welcome aboard! I am honored and humbled to be a part of this awesome blog hop.  I love MayzyArt images so this is truly a blast for me. 

Today I will be sharing with you a card I made using the adorable "Lorelei" image.  The look on her face makes me think that she is missing someone who set sail and she can't wait for them to return.

SECRET WORD IS: 

I designed a shaped card using my Cameo and cut it out on dark blue cardstock from SU.  I layered on some dp from a 6x6 paperpack.  My image was colored using Copic markers Y02, Y06, Y08, B12, B14, B16 (for her clothes and boat) and E11, E13, E21 (for skin), E29, E27, E25, E40 and E41 (for hair and shoes).  I matted her on yellow cardstock to make the image really stand out.  I finished my card off with some flowers from Wild Orchid Crafts and pearls from my stash.  The sentiment, which I think goes perfect with this image is from Create with TLC.

MayzyArt's Steampunk Lady

Greetings!  Happy Mother's Day

I pray that you all have a blessed Mother's Day!  If you are fortunate enough to still have your mother here with you, show her LOTS of love.  If your mother is not with you in the natural, she is with you in spirit.  True mothers take their job seriously and they will never leave your side. :-)

I will be sharing a non-traditional Mother's Day card with you today.  I have done cards throughout the month that would be considered "traditional," but the rebel in me wanted to shake things up a bit.  I visited MayzyArt stamp store (thanks Jo Hamm for the reminder of the 50% off sale) and picked up some real beauties.  I am the total opposite of what steampunk is and is probably why I am so attracted to it.  You ask, "what is steampunk?"  Well, this is how it is defined...is a sub-genre of science fiction that typically features steam-powered machinery,^[1] especially in a setting inspired by industrialized Western civilization during the 19th century.  Okay, that may be the serious definition for it, but I describe it as the perfect match up of hard industrial metal and soft victorian lace.  It is truly two opposite working together to create art.  I truly love it because it appeals to the Gemini in me...opposing twins. :-)

Okay, enough with the history lesson.  Here's my creation using MayzyArt's Steampunk lady and Create with TLC's sentiment.

Steampunk Lady

Isn't she a classic!  I love everything about this image.  I colored my image first this time and then found papers to match her.  I had my Copic markers YR23 and YR24 that don't necessarily blend well together, but I was determined to make them work.  I love this mustard looking color.  I just sat down with this vintage beauty and layered on colors.  I didn't know how it was going to turn out, but loved the finished product.  I hope you do too!  I then thought I needed to make sure that her background tied in with her.  So, I took black cardstock to make my base.  I then layerd on some grey and dp paper from MME paperpack.  I then layerd on aother grey layer and that mustard colored scrolled background is from Bird's blog.  Thanks Bird!  I then cut an umbrella and corner piece using my Cameo.  I wish I would have matted it on black cardstock, but I was out. :-(  Oh well, I still like how it came out.  I finished it off by adding the sentiment from Paulette at Create with TLC and 3D popping my lady on top.  I truly love how feminine it is in a totally different way.
