Tammy's Scrapin Corner Challenge #17: Celebration/4th of July

Greetings!

Happy Monday! It's that time of the week for another challenge over at Tammy's Scrapin Corner. This week's theme is Celebration/4th of July and our sponsor this week is Bugaboo Stamps. I chose to do a card to celebrate the birth of a new baby using the adorable "Hand in Hand" image from Bugaboo Stamps.

Here's my creation...

Hand in Hand

The base of my 6x6 card was created using SU cardstock.  I layered on a scrap piece of dp I had in my stash.  I used MS punch to cut out a brown piece of SU cardstock to put across the middle of the card.  I then layered on a diecut that I cut using my Cricut.  I used a Spellbinder's Lace diecut to mat my image.  My image was colored with Copics E01, E11, E21, E13 and R29.  I used a SU punches to cut out my sentiment which I created.  I finished my card off by adding some pearls.  The sentiment reads...

Hold on to me sweet little one,

and I will guide you

through life's storms.

Birdie Brown's Retro phone and Tammy's Scrapin Corner "Anything Goes" Challenge #16

Happy Monday! It's that time of the week for another challenge over at Tammy's Scrapin Corner. This week's theme is Anything Goes and we have two awesome sponsors this week... Scrapper's Delights and MarkerPop (formerly ICopic). I am multi-tasking with this post, because I have chosen to use the image from Birdie Brown's June Challenge "Retro phone," so that I may enter in that challenge as well.

Here's my creation...

BB Retro Phone

I started created my card using Kraft cardstock, SU cardstock and some dp from MME Miss Caroline "Dilly Dally" 6x6 paperpack.  This has quickly become one of my FAV paperpacks and coming from a woman who has over 50 6x6 paperpacks is saying a lot. lol  Anyways, I then added some oober cool Chevron diecuts from the very generous and super kind Bird.  I asked if she would make these and she did and I knew they woul dwork well with Birdie Brown's Retro phone.   I colored my phone up using Copics R35, R37, BG11, BG13, BG15.  The perfect sentiment is from Paulette over at Create with TLC.  To tie everything together (lol), I added twine at the bottom.

Tammy's Scrapin Corner Challenge #15 Ribbon or Bows

Greetings!

Happy Monday!  It's that time of the week for another challenge over at Tammy's Scrapin Corner.  This week's theme is Ribbon or Bows and we are once again sponsored by Bugaboo's Stamps.  I chose to work with the Silhouette - Hummingbird image this week.  I tried a new technique on this image that allows me to blend colors without using a marker.  I also created a three tiered card by making 3 easle cards in one!  This creation is full of new stuff as you will see.

Well, I started out using some yummy purple (and olive) cardstock from SU.  I cut them out using the Spellbinder's Mega Nestibilities Label #8.  I layered dp from Jodie Lee designs Nature Garden Collection.  I added ribbon from SU and added flowers from Wild Orchid Flowers.  The leaves are from Crealies Creative  dies and the flourish behind the image is from Spellbinders.

The Bugaboo Silhouette image comes in black; however, using MS Word I changed the colors and blended in other colors.  I used a Copic E41 to color around the trim of the image.  I finished the card off with eyelets.

Basically I created this card by using the basic techniques of an easel card.  I will put a tut together on how I actually made it later.

Tammy's Scrapin Corner Challenge #15 "For the boys!"

It's the boys turn this time around.  Tammy's Scrapin Corner challenge #14 "For the boys."  We are sponsored by "Meljens Designs" this time around.  So look through your papers and embellishments and put together a card meant for a boy (or man) and come play!
Here's my creation...

I created a page layout this time around using a picture I took of my little nephew Caden.  Caden is two and he has been going through his terrible twos. lol  This particular picture was taking during a game of monsters we were playing.  He wanted to scare me.  *smile*  I used Meljens cars (which I paper pieced) and the Scrapbook kit from Scraporchard.

Tammy's Scrapin Corner Challenge #13 "For the Girls"

Happy Monday!  It's time for another challenge over at Tammy Scrapin Corner Challenge.  This week's challenge is sponsored by Bugaboo Stamps and our theme is "For the Girls."  So pull out all your girly embellishments, flowers, ribbons etc, and join us for this week's challenge.

Here's my creation...

Girlz - Bare feet

I created this card using 6x6 craft paper and layered SU red and blue cardstock.  I also stitched designer paper from MME's Miss Caroline "Dolly Up" collection.  I used Spellbinder's "Circle Butterfly" and "Circle" diecut for the image and mat.  I digital paperpieced the girl's dress and shaded it with R89 Copic.  I also used Copics to color the butterflies as well as a white gel pen to added dots and stripes.  To finish the card off I added some buttons and bling. The butterfly is a SU diecut.

Tammy's Scrapin Corner Challenge #12

Greetings!

Happy Memorial Day!!  Memorial Day, originally called Decoration Day, is a day of remembrance for those who have died in our nation's service. There are many stories as to its actual beginnings, with over two dozen cities and towns laying claim to being the birthplace of Memorial Day. There is also evidence that organized women's groups in the South were decorating graves before the end of the Civil War: a hymn published in 1867, "Kneel Where Our Loves are Sleeping" by Nella L. Sweet carried the dedication "To The Ladies of the South who are Decorating the Graves of the Confederate Dead" (Source: Duke University's Historic American Sheet Music, 1850-1920).  Take a moment to remember and thank those men and women who gave their lives for us (and who continue to fight for our freedom).  God Bless!

Here's my creation using an image from Emerald Faerie...

I used cardstock from Marco's paper and my dp is from scraps I had leftover from a 6x6 pad.  I colored this cutie with Copics.  I loved how the snails shell came out.  It was so much fun coloring him.  I used my blender to add spots to the back of the snails back.  I added Stickles to his wings to add a little bling.  Now to let you in on a tiny secret.  You musn't tell a soul.  All the other embellishments (round flowers, scalloped paper edge adn the stichtes) are all computer generated.  Could you have guessed it??  If so, good eye.  If not, don't fret I planned it that way. :-)

I love to mix scrapbooking items (embellishments, masks, papers, etc.) with my traditional cardmaking.  It is often referred to as Hybrid.  This is a real good money saver and sometimes I just can't find the right "something" to finish off a card, but I usually can find it in my scrapbooking digital stuff.  Afterall, the "hybrid" items are actually real items...they are just pictures that have been cropped and resized to use in scrapbooking pages.

Okay, I have mentioned before how I love to discover new digi stamp stores.  Well, recently I came across another store thanks to Tammy Ortiz (awesome challenge site). :-)  I was in awe when I visited Jackson's Digital Expressions.  I immediately made a purchase and as soon as I got home from work I printed them off, colored them up and will share one of them with you today.  I instantly connected with these digis and had so much fun adding color to them.

Oh did I mention that they have a challenge blog as well?  Well, they do.  I used the color combo they offered (as a twist) to their Anything Goes challenge to design my card.  I have to admit that when I first saw this color combo, I thought it would be a true challenge.  However, once I sat down and started pulling the papers, embellishments, and cardstock together it took on a life of its own.

Sunday Hat III

As I stated before, I didn't know where to start with this challenge.  So, I colored up my image using Copics.  Once I was happy with her look, I moved on to SU Chocolate cardstock for my card base.  I then added some Bazzill Yellow cardstock.  The dp I used is from Bo Bunny's Zoology 6x6 paperpack.  It was a nice little find as I was going through my paperpacks.  I mounted my image on a Spellbinder's diecut and used a Circle diecut to cut out the image.  I used several different kinds of embellishments on this card, starting with the leaves which are cut from Cheery Lynn flourish diecut.  I also used the two corner decos from Spellbinders.  I finished it off with some flowers from Wild Orchids as well as a little Stickles (my FAV) here and there.  I created the sentiment on my computer and used SU punches to punch it out.

I dedicate this card to all the ladies of my church.  I can remember sitting behind several church ladies when I was younger and imagining that an animal would crawl out of thier huge hats with lots of feathers, flowers and or bows.  My head is waaaaayyy to big to wear a hat (lol), but I do love the look of them with a nice suit and matching purse and heels.
